“He has overcome a social and emotional wall at school”
“The doctor’s suggestion was to continue taking him as long as we could see improvements”.
“Today I feel we did not know about this option in time, which in my opinion, must be taken advantage of as soon as possible.”
I heard of Neurofeedback through a television program in which they spoke about a case of an autistic boy in the United States who had overcome the strongest symptoms of autism through this therapy.
Until now, we had only tried occupational therapy, and my husband and I both felt that he had not improved in any way. Because of this, I researched online and spoke with doctors about this form of therapy. Some of them did not recommend it because they knew nothing about it. But I decided to do it, even almost against my husband’s will.
Immediately after the therapy began, we started noticing results. But I could say that after the 5th session I was surprised by the improvements. He no longer chewed his fingernails, for example. He began to act less withdrawn; he has overcome a social and emotional wall in school, and is much more affectionate with his family; in fact, he now speaks a lot to me.
This progress continued as the sessions went on. He has completed 33 sessions and continues to improve. I took him to the doctor so he could see the results and his suggestion was to continue taking him to the therapy as long as we could see improvements.
Today I feel we did not know about this option in time, which in my opinion must be taken advantage of as soon as possible. I have already spoken with several friends who also have children with same conditions to encourage them to make the effort and take their children, because it is worth it, even more so for our children.
